NORMAL, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis had its season opening win streak snapped on Friday evening as Illinois State beat the Panthers 6-1.

EIU fell to 5-1 with ISU moving to 2-2.

Illinois State won the doubles point taking two of the three matches.  Mike Jansen and Freddie O'Brien won for the Panthers playing at No. 1 doubles with a 6-4 decision.  ISU won at No. 2 and No.3 doubles needing a tie-break at No. 3 doubles to win.

In singles play Cameron Slabbert picked up the lone point for EIU playing at No. 6 singles.  Slabbert won in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. 

ISU players also needed three sets to pick up points and No. 2 and No. 3 singles.  Jansen was the Panthers No. 2 player while Daniel Hernandez played at No. 3.
