CHICAGO – Eastern Illinois men's tennis pushed its record to 6-1 on the season as the Panthers picked up a 4-3 road win on Sunday at UIC.

EIU jumped out with a 1-0 lead as they won the doubles point at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.  Freddie O'Brien and Mike Jansen won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles while Daniel Hernandez and Christos Kyrillou won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

O'Brien gave EIU a 2-0 lead in the match with his win at No. 1 singles beating Johan Hedstrom 6-2, 6-4. 

UIC cut the EIU lead in half with a win at No. 2 singles before Kyrillou playing at No. 4 singles gave EIU a 3-1 lead with a three-set win 6-2, 1-6, 6-2.

UIC would even the match with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

Hernandez would win at No. 3 singles to give EIU the win.  Hernandez won in three-sets including a tie-break in the final set.  Hernandez won 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1).
