DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois picked up a 7-0 win over Eastern Illinois men's tennis as the Panthers played their second match of the weekend.
EIU fell to 7-6 overall. NIU improved 5-4.
In doubles play NIU was able to secure the point winning two of the three matches. NIU won at No. 1 doubles before EIU evened the match with a win at No. 3 doubles.Â
Gage Kingsmith and
Gertjan De Wilder picked up the 6-2 win. NIU then clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, NIU won the first five points in singles play winning at positions one through five with the Huskies winning all five matches in straight sets.
NIU won the final match of the day at No. 6 singles with Mikael Vollbach holding off
Cameron Slabbert in three sets. Vollbach won 2-6, 6-1, 10-5.
