Women's Soccer Adds Ten Players For 2020 Roster

Panthers roster now features players from seven countries

2020 EIU Soccer Schedule

Eastern Illinois women's soccer coach Jake Plant has announced the addition of ten players for the Panthers 2020 class as the NCAA National Signing Day opened last week.

The Panthers have added Zenaya Barnes, Ashleigh Harvey, Ava Hensley, Mara Kades, Cameron Korhorn, Jenna Little, Camryn Lummus, Serra Pizano, Lexi Prusow and Karima Rangle to the 2020 roster showing the global impact of the game.  With these additions EIU will be represent by seven nations next season on its 2020 roster.  EIU announced its upcoming schedule earlier this month with the first exhibition game scheduled for August 10 against IUPUI.  

Ashleigh (Ash) Harvie
- Freshman from Cheltenham, Victoria (Australia)
- Defender
- Will study Exercise Science/KSS
- Currently plays for Coach Kat Smith at Alamein FC in the Victoria division of the National Premier League – Women, the 2nd highest women's league in Australia
- Previously played for Bayside United from 2016-2019, also of the NPLW
- Represented Australian National Schoolgirls team in 2018 & 2019 at the SoCal Cup and the Dallas International Girls Cup, winning the cup championship for both, a first for any Australian team
- Also represented the School Sport Victoria (SSV) state team in 2017 & 2018, finishing runners up at the Pacific School Games and serving as team captain
- Victoria National Training Center (NTC) selection in 2018
- Says about EIU "I am super excited to be a part of EIU and was drawn to it ever since I first spoke with the coaching staff. I cannot wait to be a part of the EIU Panther Soccer team and join the EIU community!"

Cameron (Cam) Korhorn 
- Freshman from Plainfield, Ill. attending Providence Catholic HS
- Attacking Midfielder
- Will study Psychology
- Plays high school for Coach Dan Potempa at New Lenox Providence Catholic and Jay Konrad at Galaxy SC
- Competed in the US Youth Soccer (USYS) Midwest Conference and National League with Galaxy
- 4-year starter for Providence Catholic. As a junior, her team was Regional Champion, and she was named 1st team All-Conference Chicago Catholic League, 1st team All-Area, All-Sectional by the IHSSCA
- 1 of 30 players nation-wide invited to participate with Generation Adidas International on a 2018 trip to train with and play against Olympique Lyon's Academy in France
- Says about EIU, "I chose EIU because of the welcoming atmosphere. I love the coaches, team, and campus and I'm excited to grow as a player and person at Eastern."

 Karhorn,Cam_WSOC

Camryn (Cami) Lummus
- Freshman from Reno, Nev. attending Galena HS
- Attacking Midfielder/Forward
- Will study Business
- Plays for Annie Di Loreto at Galena HS and Marco Merlo at Nevada United/Sagebrush SC
- For Galena, she has accumulated 172 points in her career, including 62 goals and 52 assists as a midfielder. 3-time 1st Team All-League, 3-time All-State, 4th All-Time for career assists at class 4A, and 4th All-Time for single season assists. Overall high school record was 78-10-5 while at Galena, reaching the state semi's every year and  finishing as high as 2nd in 2018
- During club career, her team won 3 consecutive Surf Cup championships and was Nevada State Cup champions multiple times
- Says about EIU, "I chose to study and play at EIU because of the great business program, the coaching staff, and the community."

Jenna Little
- Freshman from Portage, Mich. attending Portage Central HS
- Attacking Midfielder/Forward
- Will study Business or Clinical Laboratory Science
- Plays for Tim Halloran at Portage Central HS and Joseph Fuld at Kingdom SC 01. Formerly played with Midwest United of the US Soccer Development Academy (USSDA)
- At PCHS, was leading scorer as a freshman before departing high school soccer during Soph/JR years to play in the USSDA
- Selected for Olympic Development Program (ODP) State and Regional teams
- With Midwest United, won the Super Y League National Championship and later the USSDA National Championship
- For NLC Kingdom, finished Michigan State Cup Runners-Up in fall 2019
- Says about EIU, "I chose EIU after seeing how well the soccer program and academic programs were run. EIU has coaches and teachers who are invested in the players and students and create a supportive environment that felt different from the other schools I visited."

Karima Rangel
- Freshman from Moline, Ill. attending Moline HS
- Forward
- Will study Biology with a Pre-Med focus
- Plays for Jonathan Dreasler at Moline HS and Jason White at Quad Cities Rush
- For Moline HS, she is a 4-year starter and was a 3-time All-Conference and 2-time All-Sectional selection
- For QC Rush, she was chosen to participate in the QC Rush National Selection made up of players from across the US and Canada. Her team went on to win the President's Day Showcase in Phoenix, AZ, with Karima scoring 2 of the team's 4 goals in the tournament
- Says about EIU, "I chose EIU for the academic and athletic opportunities."

Lexi Prusow
- Freshman from Hartland, Wis. attending Hartland-Arrowhead HS
- Goalkeeper
- Will study Biology with a Pre-Dentistry focus
- Played previously for Scott Asher at Hartland-Arrowhead HS and now for Christian Lavers at FC Wisconsin ECNL
- Will forgo senior season at H-A HS to play in the ECNL program (Elite Clubs National League)
- For FC Wisconsin, team attended ECNL National Finals in San Diego, CA in 2019
- Says about EIU, "I chose EIU because it felt like my home away from home. I felt surrounded by a supportive coaching staff, group of players, and university as a whole." 

 Lexi Prusow

Serra Pizano
- Freshman from Ballston Spa, New York, attending Singapore American School (SAS) in Singapore
- Forward
- Will study Pre-Veterinary Medicine
- Plays for Singapore American School (SAS) and Warriors FC of the Singapore Women's National League, the 2nd highest women's league in Singapore
- For Warriors FC, Serra received the Women's National League Player of the Year in 2018
- Won multiple IASAS (Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools) tournaments with SAS, including going undefeated her senior season. She was named IASAS Tournament MVP in 2018 and was the competition's leading scorer
- Brother, Ethan, plays college soccer for NYU
- Says about EIU, "I am excited to become a Panther! EIU is the right choice for me because they have a good soccer program and also emphasize the importance of academics. That balance was what made my decision the right one."

  ​​​​​​​Serra Pizano

Mara Kades
- Freshman from Munich, Germany attending Rainer-Maria-Rilke Gymnasium Icking
- Defender
- Will study Economics
- Plays for Dragan Terzic at FFC Wacker Muenchen in the Women's Bayernliga, the 5th highest women's division in Germany, serving as captain
- Previously served as captain of the U17's at FFC Wacker Muenchen, with that team finishing runners-up in the U17 Bayernliga
- Finished 9th place in the U17 division at the 2019 International Gallini World Cup in Pordenone, Italy
- Also played for FSV Hoehenrain at the U15 level for both the girls' and boys' teams, serving as team captain and assistant captain, respectively
- Says about EIU, "I chose EIU because the university is academically good and also plays high level soccer with great facilities to help me develop. I immediately liked the great and friendly atmosphere."

- Freshman from St. Charles, Ill. attending St. Francis HS
- Attacking midfielder/forward
- Will study Communications
 - Plays for Jim Winslow at Wheaton St. Francis HS & Phil Nielsen at Team Chicago Academy 02 Elite
- 4-year varsity member for St. Francis
- 2018 Class 2A State Champions
- Member of Team Chicago Academy 02 Elite team for past 6 years
- In 2019, Team Chicago went 9-0 en route to a Midwest Conference Premier I Championship, qualifying for the National League
- Currently 6-1 in National League play
- Says about EIU, "I chose EIU because it truly felt like home. The work ethic of the team combined with the coaching staff really stood out to me. I'm excited to be part of a program that is focused on getting better every day. The connection to the community and the family feel of the university made it an easy decision!"

- Played for Raymond Krawzak at Carmel HS and Srgan Smileski at GLSA 1974 Libertyville
- 2018 All-Conference
- 2018 Chicagoland Soccer All-State Selection
- 2018 3A Regional & Sectional Champions
- 2x Chicagoland Soccer MVP of the Match in 2018
- 3 goals and 1 assists in 2019 at Grambling State
- 16 goals and 9 assists in 2018
- 12 goals and 9 assists in 2017
- Brother Zaire Barnes plays football at Western Michigan, brother Zavier Barnes plays football at Robert Morris University
