Panthers Set For Their First Road Showdown
Eastern Illinois women's basketball takes on the Indiana State Sycamores in the Panthers' first road matchup of the 2021-22 season.  EIU currently sits at 1-0 overall following last Tuesday's 86-30 win over Lindenwood.  Indiana State currently holds a record of 1-1 following a 65-58 loss at Saint Louis on Sunday.  Tipoff is set for 5 pm.

Last Game
The Panthers defeated the Lindenwood Lions 86-30 in their season-opener at Lantz Arena. Lariah Washington led the team with 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field. Jordyn Hughes was 3-of-4 from three-point range and contributed 13 points. Some Panther freshmen showed their potential yet again as Taris Thornton scored 10 points and recorded four rebounds and three steals in 15 minutes of action, Miah Monahan scored eight points on a perfect 3-of-3 performance from the field, and Julia Bengtson recorded seven points in 15 minutes of action.

Player to Watch
Freshman Forward Taris Thornton, who averaged 10 points per game, eight rebounds per game, and four blocks per game in her senior year of high school, has lived up to her billing as a stat sheet stuffer.  She scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in 5 minutes of action in the exhibition win over IWU, and she followed up that performance with 10 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two blocked shots against Lindenwood.

Scouting The Sycamores
Indiana State is led by first-year head coach Chad Killinger. The Sycamores currently sit at 1-1 overall on the season with an 88-33 home win over Stephens College and a 65-58 loss on the road to Saint Louis. ISU is led in scoring by Junior Forward Adrian Folks, who has averaged 20 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game through two games so far, and Junior Guard Del'Janae Williams who has averaged 10 PPG through two games.

Series History
Wednesday will mark the 25th all-time meeting between the Panthers and the Sycamores. Indiana State leads the all-time series 20-4. In the last meeting between the two teams, ISU defeated EIU 59-57 at Lantz Arena on November 10, 2019.
