The Eastern Illinois beach volleyball team will start their first season as a team in 2022 when they travel to Missouri Baptist on Tuesday, Mar. 22 in Saint Louis, Mo. EIU joins Morehead State, Chattanooga, UT Martin, and Austin Peay as the fifth team in the Ohio Valley Conference for beach volleyball.
After starting off the season with a non-conference game, the Panthers will travel to Chattanooga, Tenn. where they will compete in the OVC Weekend at Chattanooga. Eastern will play four matches starting with two on Friday, Mar. 25 against Austin Peay and UT Martin. EIU will then play Chattanooga and UT Martin on Saturday, Mar. 26.
The Panthers will then travel to the EKU Tournament in Richmond, Ky. to play a four match tournament. The team will play two matches on Friday, Apr. 1 against North Alabama and Eastern Kentucky, and two matches on Saturday, Apr. 2 against North Alabama and Austin Peay.Â
The regular season ends in late April when EIU travels to an OVC Weekend at Austin Peay. Eastern has four matches in Clarksville, Tenn. with two on Friday, Apr. 22 against Chattanooga and Morehead State and two on Saturday against UT Martin and Austin Peay.
The OVC Tournament will be held on Thursday, Apr. 28 through Saturday, Apr. 30. Morehead State will host the three day tournament at their home court. The Panthers are coached by Manolo Concepcion after being the assistant coach for the Panthers during the 2021 volleyball season.
