Panthers look to avenge a loss from earlier this season

Panthers Face Off With Golden Eagles
Eastern Illinois women's basketball faces off against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in a monster showdown with major conference standing ramifications.  The Panthers, who have won five straight including seven out of their last eight, currently hold an overall record of 13-10 and an Ohio Valley Conference record of 8-4.  Tipoff is set for 5 pm.

Last Game
Kira Arthofer banked in a layup in the lane at the buzzer as EIU defeated SIUE 70-68 on the road.  Lariah Washington led all Panther scorers with 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting and grabbed four rebounds and two steals.  Jordyn Hughes scored 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-5 from three-point range, and had three rebounds.  Arthofer scored 10 points, dished out four assists, and recorded four steals.  The win marked the 400th of head coach Matt Bollant's career.

Player to Watch
Senior Guard Kira Arthofer continues to demonstrate her prowess on both the offensive and defensive end, as her five assists per game leads the OVC and her 2.6 steals per game are tied for third in the OVC and rank 37th nationally.  Her 114 assists on the season lead the OVC and rank 27th nationally, and her 60 steals on the season rank second in the conference and 15th nationally.  She iis currently averaging 9.7 points per game, which ranks third on the team.  Her 198 career steals rank seventh on EIU's all-time career steals list.  She is 17 steals away from tying Barb Perkes for sixth on the list.  With 11 more steals this season, she will enter the top 10 for most steals in a single season in program history.  Her 394 career assists rank 10th on the program's all-time assists list.  She is six away from tying Grace Lennox for ninth on the list and seven away from tying Lisa Tyler for eighth on the list.

Scouting Tech
Tennessee Tech is led by sixth-year head coach Kim Rosamond.  They most recently saw their seven-game winning streak snapped by a 49-58 home loss to Belmont.  The Golden Eagles now sit at 14-8 overall and 9-3 in OVC play.  Tennessee Tech is led in scoring by Anna Jones.  The Graduate G/F has been on an absolute tear recently, scoring double digits in six straight games, including at least 15 in four of those six games.  Overall, she is averaging 12.3 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game, both team highs . Fellow Grad F Mackenzie Coleman is averaging 11.5 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game.  She shoots 52.1% from the floor and 38.9% from three-point range.

Series History
Thursday will mark the 49th all-time meeting between the Panthers and the Golden Eagles.  With Tennessee Tech's win over EIU on January 24, the Golden Eagles now lead the all-time series 31-17 and have won seven straight in the series.
