EIU 2023-24 Player Bio Packet
Eastern Illinois women's basketball had two players selected to the preseason All-OVC team and the Panthers were selected to finish third in this year's preseason Ohio Valley Conference poll released on Tuesday at the league's basketball media day in Evansville, Ind.
Macy McGlone, a returning All-OVC player from last year, was joined on the preseason team by
Miah Monahan.
Tennessee Tech, the defending tournament champion, was selected as the preseason favorite followed by Little Rock and Eastern Illinois.
The top eight teams in the 11-team league qualify for the conference tournament in early March at the Ford Center in Evansville.
EIU opens the regular season on Nov. 6 at IUPUI and then travels to Indiana during the opening week. The home opener for the Panthers will be on Nov. 12 hosting Valparaiso.
The OVC season will open on the road this year at SIUE on Dec. 29 as the Panthers play their first three conference games on the road. EIU's first home OVC game will be on Jan. 11 hosting Morehead State.
McGlone was a first team All-OVC selection last year as one of the top post players in the conference. She averaged 12.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game shooting 54.4 percent from the floor.
Monahan was the Panthers floor general last season helping lead the team to a 21-win season. Monahan averaged 9.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
