GAME 28
As teams continue to have short win streaks and losing streaks the Ohio Valley Conference race tightens up. Last week Eastern Illinois snapped a pair of losing streaks as they won both games during the week to move into eighth place by themselves in the conference standings at 9-18 overall, 5-9 in the OVC. EIU snapped a six-game losing streak with a 77-75 win over UT Martin at home. Then on Saturday snapped a 13-game OVC road losing streak with a 84-73 road win at SIUE. EIU now heads out for its final two road games of the year at Southeast Missouri and Little Rock. SEMO enters on a three-game losing streak as the Redhawks have dropped into a five-way tie for second place in the OVC at 8-6, sporting a 13-14 overall record.
NICK'S BIG NIGHT
Nick Ellington had posted a season-high of 13 points twice prior to the game at SIUE. In Saturday's contest Ellington passed that total in the first half with 15 points on his way to a season high 21 points on a 9-of-13 shooting day from the field. Ellington currently leads the Panthers in field goal percentage shooting 52.5 percent from the field. He added three points at the free throw line going 3-of-3. A 61 percent free throw shooter for the season Ellington has connected for 76 percent at the stripe over the last five games (19-of-25) as he leads the Panthers in free throw attempts. The junior college transfer picked up one block as he ranks fifth in the OVC with 27 this season.
HAFFNER ADDS ANOTHER OVC FRESHMAN AWARD
Eastern Illinois players winning OVC Freshman of the Week honors is starting to become routine as the Panthers collected their eighth overall award this season with

It was Haffner's fourth overall OVC Freshman Award as he ranks second among OVC Freshman this season in scoring at 6.8 points per game.
