** During the month of July, EIUPanthers.com will take a look back at 15 events, moments and players that helped shape the 2022-23 academic year. **

Eastern Illinois women's basketball opened the Ohio Valley Conference season with 13 straight wins setting a program record for the best start to a conference season in school history.  EIU would finish the regular season with 14 conference wins and second in the regular season standings.

The program also broke the record for consecutive OVC games won in a season, which was 12 set during the 2009-10 season.   The 13 consecutive conference wins in a season set a school record while the overall streak of consecutive regular season conference wins extended to 16 straight with three wins to close the previous year.

During the year EIU was ranked multiple times in the Mid-Major Top 25 and won 21 games overall, the most for the program since the 2012 season when the Panthers went 22-9.   

Two EIU players earned first-team All-OVC honors for their play in the season as EIU had back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since the 2012 and 2013 seasons.  EIU has posted winning campaigns in three of the last four years under head coach Matt Bollant.
