Eastern Illinois cross country athletes
Richie Jacobo and
Brenda Torres have been named the Ohio Valley Conference Runners of the Week following their performances at the Live In The Lou Louisville XC Classic.

Jacobo won his first award this season after leading the EIU men to a 14th place finish at the meet which included several regionally ranked men's teams. Jacobo covered the 8K course in a time of 24:41.9 placing 36th in a field of 279 runners.

Torres won her second OVC Runner of the Week award as she shaved 20 seconds off her personal best 5K time finishing in 37th with a time of 17:44.9. Torres led EIU to a 16th place team finish in a field of 265 runners. Her time at the event ranks as the ninth fastest 5K in school history.

EIU returns to action on Friday, October 18 at the Bradley "Pink" Classic before defending its OVC title on Friday, November 1 at the 2024 OVC Championships hosted by UT Martin.Â
