Eastern Illinois men's and women's cross country will travel to Peoria, Illinois this Friday to compete in this year's NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Bradley University.
 
The races will be held at the Newman Golf Course with the women's 6K set for an 11 a.m. start followed by the men's 10K race at 12 p.m.  Both races will feature live stats and ESPN+ coverage.
 
The Panthers are coming off second place finishes for both the men and women at the OVC Championships on November 1. 
 
At the event the EIU men lost by just one point to Southern Indiana snapping their streak of four straight OVC titles.  The women had their streak of two straight titles come to an end with Southern Indiana winning the women's crown.
 
Joe Stoddard was the OVC runner-up earning first team All-OVC honors.  He was joined by Richie Jacobo on the first team and Michael Atkins on the second team.
 
Mackenzie Aldridge led the women with a top five finish at the OVC Championship for the third straight year to earn first team All-OVC.  Brenda Torres joined Aldridge on the first team with Kylie Haacke a second team All-OVC performer. 
 
This will be the last race coached by current EIU cross country coach Erin Howarth unless the Panthers advance an individual or team to the NCAA National Championships.  Howarth announced her retirement from coaching after 15 years to move into a position on-campus in the Eastern Illinois admissions department.
