CHARLESTON, Ill - The Eastern Illinois men's and women's track and field team opened their 2024 indoor season at the John Coughlan Invite at Horton Field House in Normal, Ill. The Panthers finished the evening with four first or second place finishes.

The women's team finished the evening with two second place finishes, coming in the 60m hurdles and the 4x400m relay. Hallee Thomas ran a time of 9.19 in the 60m hurdles to grab the second place spot while Devin Johnston, Makenna McBride, Kenyetietta Quinn, and Kaitlyn Vahling combined for a time of 4:08.36 in the 4x400m relay to place second.

The men's team recorded one first place finish, as Taj Mathis-Akinremi notched a time of 23.38 in the 200m race to claim the top spot on the podium. In addition, the men's 4x400m relay team consisting of Billy Bailey Jr, Ayden Cothern Israel Jackson, and Daniel Lacy placed second in with a time of 3:24.77
