TUNICA, Miss. – Freshman
Meera Upadhyay fired a one-over par 73 on Monday which was tied for the second lowest round of the day as she climbed into a tie for 8th place overall leading Eastern Illinois at the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
The final round will be played Tuesday at Tunica National Golf Course with Little Rock the overall team leader, with a five-stroke lead over Morehead State. EIU sits in seventh place one stroke behind Chicago State.
Anna Dawson of Little Rock continues to be the overall leader. On Monday, Natalie Hooper of Western Illinois and Kaydi Rhodes of Tennessee Tech had the best rounds of the day with scores of even par 72.
Upadhyay was one stroke back with a 73 after shooting an opening round 82 on Sunday. She was joined by Amelie Greenlee of Morehead State as players with rounds of 73.
EIU's other four scored golfers in the tournament had rounds in the 80's on Monday as EIU posted a team score of 327.
Ashley Chen,
Mya Mirocha and
Ava Boehm are all tied for 32nd with 36-hole scores of 167. Boehm had the best Monday round of the group with an 82. Chen and Mirocha both shot 86.
Lindsey Hastings was EIU's final golfer with a round of 87 to stand 39th with a 36-hole score of 172.
Upadhyay has a 36-hole total of 155 as the round of 73 was the low round this season turned in by an EIU golfer.
