ON-TAP: Eastern Illinois Track & Field will host the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track Championship meet at O'Brien Field this weekend. The meet will begin on Thursday, May 9 with events set to start at 9 a.m CT. Running events of all three days of competition will be streamed on ESPN+.
The meet will be open to spectators, though admission will be charged each day or fans may purchase an All-Session pass. Other OVC Championship information (schedule of events, ESPN+ stream links, heat sheets) can be found at the

LAST WEEK: EIU sent a smaller group of athletes to compete in the final regular season meet at the Indiana Billy Hayes Invite. The Panthers posted ten top 10 finishes in what was their second meet in Indiana in three weeks.
Elijah Skutt and
Porter Conroy registered the best finishes of the day for the Panthers. Skutt was fourth in the high jump with a height of 2.02m (6' 7.5") while Conroy placed fifth with a mark of 1.93m (6' 4").
In addition to the fifth place posted by Conroy,
Adam Swanson also ranked fifth, but in the 800m race with a time of 1:49.14.
Cassie Bradbury was 14th javelin throw with a mark of 22.66m (74' 04").
Sam Bradbury was sixth in the discus throw with a personal best distance of 49.79m (163' 04").
OVC LEADERS: Heading into this weekend's Championship, three Panthers currently lead their respective individual event in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Nathan Kirby: 110 meter hurdles, 14.02
Ramsey Hunt: Long Jump, 7.89m (25' 10.75")
Kirby's time ranks 14th in the NCAA Midwest Region and Hunt's mark ranks 3rd in the NCAA Midwest Region and 16th in the nation.
UPCOMING: The NCAA West Regional will be held in Fayetteville, Ark. on May 22-25.
HEAD COACH: James Gildon was hired as Director of Track & Field at Eastern Illinois in August of 2023. Gildon enters his first year at Eastern after becoming the fifth director of track & field in the school's Division I history. He joins EIU following a successful stint as the associate head coach at Bowling Green.
