Eastern Illinois broke through late on Tuesday night as the Panthers posted an 8-0 run-rule win over Indiana State at Williams Field.

The Panthers improved to 26-17 overall with the win over their regional rival. The Sycamores fell to 15-30 overall.

Starting pitchers for both teams kept their opponent off the board as Hailey Grifin tossed three scoreless innings to start for Indiana State.Â
McKenzie Oslanzi (15-10) countered with five scoreless innings allowing three hits for EIU as she picked up her 15th win of the year.

In the fourth EIU broke through against Indiana State's bullpen as
Briana Gonzalez led off the inning with a single up the middle. EIU would load the bases three different times in the inning with
Abbi Hatton delivering a two-run single to left field for the big hit of the inning.

EIU tacked on three more runs in the fifth with Gonzalez leading off the inning with a triple to right center. The senior shortstop was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.Â
Kendall Grover also added two hits going 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the sixth.

The Panthers closed the game with a Gonzalez sacrifice fly to right scoring Grover for the run-rule win.

Morgan Goodrich, Hannah Welch and Luci Kapelka had the three hits surrendered by EIU's pitching staff with
Karlie McKenzie throwing a scoreless sixth for EIU.

Lauren Sackett (3-13) took the loss for the Sycamores.Â
