Eastern Illinois junior forward
Alex Tetteh was named the National Player of the Week for women's soccer by Top Drawer Soccer on Tuesday (Sept. 30).
Â
Tetteh scored five goals last week in matches against Western Illinois and UT Martin helping the Panthers pick up wins in both contests. EIU is now 3-0 to open the OVC season and undefeated (4-0-2) in the month of September.
Â
Tetteh opened the week scoring four goals in the match at Western Illinois.  The total tied the EIU school record set two previous times in 1996 by both Tracie Strother (1996 vs Little Rock) and Beth Aussin (1996 vs Lewis). Tetteh became the eighth Ohio Valley Conference player to score four goals in a match to etch her name in the conference record book, the last was by SIUE's Kayla Delgado in 2013.
Â
The four goal total is the second most in the NCAA this season behind Alivia Stott's five goal performance from Tennessee against Eastern Kentucky. Tetteh is one of six players to score four goals in a match this season.
Â
On Sunday Tetteh added her fifth goal of the week with match winner in a 1-0 decision at UT Martin. The goal was the 16th of Tetteh's career as she moved into a tie for tenth on the EIU career goals scored list with current EIU teammate
Abby Reinl and Diane Markus (1995-98).
