EIU Women’s Swimming Travels To Illinois For Final Regular Season Meet

EIU will travel to the University of Illinois for a women’s-only dual meet

Location: ARC Pool (Urban-Champaign, Ill.)  



Panthers women's swim team will travel to the University of Illinois on Saturday for one final regular season meet before the Summit League Championships. The results will be posted after the conclusion of the meet.  



Last Time Out: 

Last time out, the Panthers fell to Illinois State on the road 155-74. In the dual meet against Illinois State, multiple Panthers finished with top three podium placements. Anna Mueller was the top swimmer for EIU, winning gold in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:44.16. Mueller also secured a second-place finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle. The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team earned gold with a time of 1:41.75. The relay team consisted of Jenna Patridge, Bella Earll, Sophia Buswell, and Anna Mueller. Sydney Vandervelde prevailed in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:13.90. Genevieve Biberdorf earned a silver medal in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:23.17. Sophia Buswell earned a top three finish in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:12.07.  



About Illinois:  

The Fighting Illini head into the weekend with a 6-4 record overall. The last time out, Illinois competed at the Tim Welsh Classic hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Illinois placed second on both Friday and Saturday. The Fighting Illini is coached by Jeana Kempe, who is in her fourth year at the helm.  As head coach, she has led the team to 17 school records, 72 top ten program marks, and 7 pool records. Coach Kempe has a young roster, including only four seniors paired with 17 underclassmen.
