Eastern Illinois track and field heads to the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships this Thursday to Saturday (May 14-16) hosted by Little Rock.

Multi's will start on both Thursday and Friday at 9 am with field event competition at 1 pm (Thursday), 1:30 pm (Friday) and 11am (Saturday). Running events each day start at 5 pm (Thursday),  3 pm (Friday) and 12:30 pm (Saturday).

Entering the weekend EIU has two athletes just outside the Top 48 and a spot in the NCAA West Regional with freshman
Machi Nelson in the long jump (ranked 53rd / 24'7") and senior
Shawn Lacy in the javelin (ranked 55th / 201'5").

Both Nelson and Lacy are among the five individuals from EIU that rank first in the conference in their event heading into the weekend championships.Â
Alex Stout is ranked first in the men's shot put and
Emily Sykes first in the women's hammer.Â
Cale Smith enters first in the men's steeplechase.
Â
EIU's women's 4x100 meter relay consisting of
Abby Venhaus,
Kenyetietta Quinn,
Annabelle Coudron and
Analena Peterson also ranks first in the conference. The EIU men's 4x100 relay team has the third best OVC time this season.

In women's running events
Devin Johnston (3rd 400 meter) and
Ashlyn Denney (2nd 800 meter) rank in the top three in their events.

On the men's side in running events
Nathan Kirby (3rd 110 hurdles) and
Tyler Miller (3rd 400 hurdles) rank in the top three in their events.Â

Zac Stout will compete in the decathlon for EIU and enters with the third highest point total in the competition leading into the championship.

Four additional men's athletes rank in the top three in field events with
Jacob Maxwell (2nd Discus),
Alex Stout (2nd Hammer) and
Teegan Simmons (3rd Discus / 2nd Javelin).

The EIU women feature five additional athletes in the top five entering the OVC championship with
Abby Venhaus (2nd Long Jump),
Angela Dobbins (3rd Long Jump),
Layla Bonilla (2nd Triple Jump),
Emily Sykes (3rd Shot Put) and
Marco Reynolds (3rd Discus).
