Four First Place Finishes For EIU Track & Field

Panthers also post four top ten school marks

Eastern Illinois track and field posted four first place weekend finishes with four marks landing in the EIU career Top 10 as the Panthers wrapped up competition at the Illinois Gary Wieneke Memorial.
 
Weekend first place finishes were turned in by Cale Smith, Nathan Kirby, Ashlyn Denney and Marco Reynolds.
 
Smith won the men's steeplechase on Friday for the Panthers lone first day first place finish.  He won with a time of 9:05.99.
 
On Saturday Nathan Kirby won the men's 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.12 which was one second better than his previous career best which ranks him tenth all-time at EIU.
 
Ashlyn Denney won the women's 800 meter run posting a school top ten mark for the second straight week winning the race with a time of 2:09.03.  The time moves her up to fifth best in school history.
 
Marco Reynolds won the women's discus throw with a first place finish of 144'07" to round out the Panthers weekend event winners.
 
On Friday night Layla Bonilla landed the third best women's triple jump in school history as she finished second with a mark of 41'3.25".
 
Analena Peterson also moved up the EIU career top ten list in the women's 200 meter run on Friday with her third place time of 24.09 moving her up to seventh at EIU.
 
Additional Friday night top three event finishes for EIU were turned in by Tyler Miller (2nd / 400 hurdles / 53.74), Ayden Cothern (2nd / 200 meters / 21.35) and Shawn Lacey (2nd / Javelin / 191'11").
 
David Tuala (100 meter / 10.77) and Ethan McBride (Long Jump / 20'9.75") both added third place EIU finishes on Saturday.
