Eastern Illinois track and field closed out the regular season portion of its season on Friday competing at the Indiana State Sycamore Open.   EIU heads to the Ohio Valley Conference Championship next week (Thursday to Saturday) in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Emily Sykes finished fourth in the women's hammer while delivering the third best throw in school history with a mark of 180'01".

Sykes was one of 13 top five finishes at the meet for the Panthers.

Sebastian Meyer opened the day with a second place finish in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:54.28.  That was one of five second place finishes for the Panthers.

Rachel Koon was second in the women's steeplechase with a time of 12:30.25.  Phillip Canopy was second in the men's steeplechase with a time of 9:41.03.

Teegan Simmons was second in the men's discus with a throw of 159' with teammate Jacob Maxwell fourth with a throw of 154'.

Nevaeh Bryant was the last second place finisher in the triple jump landing at 36'7.75".  Takia Tiller was third in the event with a distance of 36'4.25".

Kenyetietta Quinn had a pair of top five finishes finishing third in the 100-meter dash (12.02) and fourth in the high jump (5'1").  Carolyn Cronin placed fifth in the high jump at 5'1" finishing in that position based on number of jumps.

Macie Russell was the last top five finisher for the EIU women with a fourth place finish in the 1,500-meter run at a time of 4:48.30.

Gavin Synder closed out the men's top five finishers in fifth place in the pole vault with a height of 15'11.75".
