CHARLESTON, Ill. – The white team scored multiple times in each of the first three innings and held on to its early advantage, taking a two-games-to-none lead in Eastern Illinois baseball's Fall World Series with an 11-9 victory Tuesday afternoon at Coaches Stadium.

Game three of the series has been moved to Wednesday due to a chance of rain. Now a seven-inning contest, game three will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Tuesday's game was called after eight innings due to darkness. Trailing 11-5 entering the eighth, the blue team made it interesting with a four-run rally, but left the bases loaded.

The two through five batters in the white team's order each collected multiple hits and combined for eight RBIs. Jake Samuels led the way with four RBIs, plating at least one run in each of his first three plate appearances.

Brad Schweigert was also very productive in the seven hole for the white team. The freshman went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, leading off with a double in both the second and third innings.

Zach Skidmore also had three hits and delivered a pair of run-scoring singles. At the top of the lineup, Brett Nommensen doubled to lead off the game, walked twice, was hit by a pitch and collected an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

On the mound, Mike Recchia and Neil Wright teamed up for seven innings of five-run ball for the white team. Recchia worked the first four innings, giving up three runs while striking out three. Wright gave up just one hit in three innings, a two-homer by Alex Gee in the fifth inning.

Richie Derbak also hit a two-run shot for the blue team en route to a four-RBI performance. His two-run single in the eighth brought the tying potential tying run to the plate.

Despite giving up four hits, a walk and hitting a batter in his inning of work, Brian Morrell closed out the eighth for the white team. With the potential tying run at second base and one out, the senior struck out Jordan Kreke and got Ben Thoma to line out to center.

Matt Boyer's three innings of one-run relief highlighted the mound work for the blue team. Ryan Green later retired five of the seven batters he faced.
