INDIANAPOLIS -- The Eastern Illinois men's and women's swimming squads completed the 2010-11 season by placing fourth and fifth at the four-day Summit League Championships which finished up on Saturday evening in Indianapolis.

Entering the day in fourth place, the Panther men moved up to third at one point throughout the day, but fell back to end the meet in fourth with 498 total team points, seven points shy of third. 

The Eastern men also collected eight post-meet award honors as Joe Ciliak, Mike Lacine, Mike Lehman, Colin McGill, Matt O'Hagan, Cody Showers, Ken Tiltges, and Rich Waszak each earned post-meet All-League honors.

The Eastern women, meanwhile, maintained their fifth place standing throughout the league meet to finish with 282 points.  Unfortunately no Panther women swimmers were listed on the All-League squad.

In the 200-Back, junior Rich Waszak touched fifth while also besting his previous EIU school mark that he set season with a 1:50.53 finish.

Fellow 200-Back EIU competitors, sophomores Chacour Koop and Mike Lacine also upped their best times in the event to subsequently move up in the Panther record books to third and fourth with times of 1:53.35 in the prelims and 1:53.43 for ninth place, respectively.

On the women's side, sophomore Kelli Dicanio topped her previous best 200-Breast time by touching fourth in 2:21.90 to now own the new school record, up from her previous third place ranking.

Also setting new personal bests on the day were Ken Tiltges in the 100-Free prelim (45.76), while Matt Scaliatine, Matt O'Hagan, and Joe Ciliak all had nice swims in the 200-Breast events, as they now own the second thru fourth top EIU times after finishing fourth thru sixth on Saturday.

Three more Panther swimmers notched their names into the Panther Top 10 times, with freshman Mary Lacine finishing up an outstanding league meet by touching 12th to now have the sixth best time in the 200-Back with a time of 2:10.27.

In the men's 100-Free, both sophomore Colin McGill and senior Cody Showers added their names to the Eastern record book in sixth and eight place, respectively.

Both the Oakland men and women continued their dominance of the squad standings, capturing both team titles yet again behind 998 and 1060 points, respectively.

Each of the Panther squads outlasted the host IUPUI squad, while also dunking arch-rival Western Illinois, as both Leatherneck units finished last, while the EIU men also scratched past South Dakota.
