After a brief stint back at home in the Lantz Fieldhouse last weekend, the Eastern Illinois men's and women's indoor track & field teams will switch gears and prepare for the Indiana Relays this weekend. The Indiana Relays will take place this Friday and Saturday at the Gladstein Fieldhouse in Bloomington, Ind. The Indiana Relays will begin at 4 p.m. (central time) on Friday and 8:20 a.m. (central time) on Saturday with the track events. Live results of the Indiana Relays will be available at

FIRST TO THE FINISH
Last weekend at the John Craft Invite, the Panthers secured 11 individual first place finishes. The EIU men's team finished in first place overall at the John Craft Invite.
Bryn Buckwalter and
Adam Kessler led the way as the pair swept the throwing events. Buckwalter tossed a distance of 49'05.00" in the shot put, and followed that with a mark of 55'10.25" in the weight throw. Kessler finished with marks of 54'02.50" in the shot put and 53'07.50" in the weight throw.
Davion McManis earned the top finish in the long jump with a leap of 23'03.50", while teammate
Chrisford Stevens placed first in the triple jump as he cleared a distance of 48'08.25".
In the running events,
Riley McInerney cruised his way to a first place finish in the mile run as he crossed the line at 4:12.38.
Paxson Menard followed that with a first place finish of his own in the 3000-meter run (8:33.84).
Jamal Robinson sprinted his way to the top finish in the 200-meter dash with his time of 22.49.
Julie James set a new personal best time of 5:01.38 in the women's mile in her first place finish and moved into third in the event in the OVC this season.
Tori Master rounded out the list with her first place finish in the women's 400-meter hurdles (1:07.51).
MCINERNEY GOES BACK-TO-BACK
Eastern Illinois senior middle distance runner
Riley McInerney was named the Ohio Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week for the second straight week. McInerney earned the honor following his first place finish at the John Craft Invite in the mile run. Due to track size, his time was converted to 4:09.20, which is the top time in the OVC this season. The honor is the third for McInerney in his career and second this season.
ABOUT THE INDIANA RELAYS
The Indiana Relays is a two-day event that will take place this Friday and Saturday at the Gladstein Fieldhouse on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. The track events will open both days of competition. The track events will begin at 4:00 p.m. (central time) on Friday, with the field events beginning at 4:35 p.m. (central time). The Indiana Relays will open at 8:20 a.m. (central time) on Saturday with the track events with the field events starting at 9:05 a.m. (central time).
The Indiana Relays will host competitors from 12 different schools during the two-day event. Besides Indiana and EIU, other schools competing at the Indiana Relays include Western Illinois, Louisville, SIUE, Southern Illinois, DePaul, SEMO, Tennessee Tech, Miami (Ohio), Tulane, and North Central.
After the conclusion of the Indiana Relays, the EIU men's and women's indoor track & field teams will compete in the Notre Dame Meyo Invite on Feb. 3-4.
