Eastern Illinois track and field opens the outdoor season this weekend as the Panthers host the EIU Big Blue Meet.
 
Competition begins on Friday with field events at 2 pm with the three running events on the track set for 4 pm.   On Saturday field events have an 11 am start followed by running events at 12:15 pm.  The day concludes with EIU senior recognition on the track.  Live Results and video feeds available both days.
 
Teams scheduled to have competitors in the field are Eastern Illinois, Ball State, Indiana State, Western Illinois, Illinois Track & Field Club and Community Christian College.
 
Daniel Lacy returns this season as one of the top sprinters in the OVC having advanced to the NCAA West Regional last season.  Lacy was named the OVC Track Athlete of the Year for the indoor season this past winter.
 
In field events Enoch Appiah-Kubi was the Panthers top long jumper in 2025 as a freshman while Sam Bradbury was a top throws competitor.   Senior Zac Stout has been one of the Panthers top multi's athletes during indoor and outdoor competition.
 
On the women's side Abby Venhaus is coming off an OVC Indoor Championship where she earned OVC Female Athlete of the Championship.  Last spring she posted the Panthers top marks in the 100 dash and the long jump.
 
In middle distance events junior Brenda Torres looks to have a solid outdoor season with Rylea Borgic one of the top steeplechase runners in the conference.
