BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Zharia Lenoir earned her first career accolade at EIU this week as the Pickerington, Ohio native was named OVC Freshman of the Week this morning.
This is Lenoir's first career weekly award and the Panther's fifth of the season. Lenoir joins fellow freshman Allison Van Dyke in receiving Freshman of the Week honors this year.
Lenoir had arguable one of her best weeks as a Panther averaging 13.5 points over EIU's two games shooting a remarkable 70.6 percent from the floor for the week. She opened the week setting a new career high with 18 points at UT Martin marking her third game this year in double-figures before nearly recording back-to-back double-digit games with nine points against SEMO.
Lenoir was one of two players to average over 10 points for the week. On the year, Lenoir averages 4.7 points per game and has started for EIU the past eight games averaging 5.8 points in that span.
The Panthers have their final home game of the week this Wednesday hosting Murray State at 6 p.m.
