River Forest Collegiate Results
RIVER FOREST, ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis opened the fall portion of its season competing at the River Forest Collegiate Invitational over the weekend. The event included singles and doubles flight draws with competitors from EIU, Marquette, Northern Illinois, Saint Louis, Detroit, UIC, Valparaiso and Youngstown State.
EIU had two players advance in the winner's bracket in singles play. Freshman
Logan Charbonneau finished third in the No. 6 singles draw. Charbonneau defeated Andre Romanello of Marquette (6-2, 6-4) in the opening round. He then was defeated in the semifinals by Brian Pecyna of Valparaiso (6-2, 6-0). Charbonneau would bounce back in the third place match to beat Justin Nogalski of Saint Louis in straight sets (6-0, 6-3).
In No. 5 singles play
Trent Reiman placed fourth after winning his opening match against Marquette's Scott Christian (7-5, 2-6, (7)). Reiman would fall in the semifinals to Matt Kritzinger of Youngstown State (7-6, 6-3 (3)). In the third place match Reiman fell to Kenji Yanaba of Saint Louis in straight sets (6-0, 6-3).
In doubles action Reiman would advance to the championship match with doubles partner
Freddie O'Brien. The doubles team played in the No. 2 doubles draw. O'Brien and Reiman beat the doubles team from UIC in the opening round (7-5). In the semifinals they beat Marquette's doubles team of Romanello and Christian. The Panthers double team would fall in the championship match (6-5) to Valparaiso.
