INDIANAPOLIS – Eastern Illinois men's tennis lost its Friday afternoon match at IUPUI falling to the Jaguars, 5-2, at the West Indy Tennis Center.
IUPUI won the doubles point taking two of the three matches. Playing at No. 1 doubles
Freddie O'Brien and
Grant Reiman won 7-6 (6) taking the match for EIU in a tie-breaker over Bradley Luetschwager and Kyle Whittaker.
In singles action
Freddie O'Brien won his match at No. 1 singles for the second straight contest. O'Brien won 6-4, 6-3 over Jac Newis scoring the first point of the day for the Panthers. O'Brien is now 2-1 in singles play in the spring season.
EIU's other point would come at No. 6 singles with
Braden Davis winning a tie-breaker over Michael Koch to secure the win. Davis won 6-4, 1-6 and 1-0 (5).
Playing at No. 3 singles freshman
Logan Charbonneau lost his bid for a third EIU point falling to Eric Hollingsworth on a tie-breaker. Hollingsworth won 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10).
EIU returns to action on Tuesday playing at Chicago State.
