COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Eastern Illinois men's tennis team wrapped up action at the 2019 ITA Midwest Regional hosted by Ohio State University.

Freddie O'Brien played in the main singles draw winning his opening round match against Clark Billnovich of Cleveland State 6-4, 7-6 (6).  O'Brien would fall in the second round to seeded player Justin Boulais of Ohio State.  Boulais won 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles play O'Brien again picked up a win in the main draw playing with Mike Jansen.  The team won 8-3 over a team from Marquette before losing in the second round 8-5 to a seeded team from Marquette.    Daniel Hernandez and Christos Kyrillou also played in the main draw representing EIU as they lost their opening round match 8-7 (4) to a team from Toledo.

Jansen, Hernandez and Kyrillou would all play in the men's qualifying singles draw.  Jansen lost his opening match to Satchel Benn of Green Bay 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.  Hernandez lost his opening round match to Gabriel Carvajal of Valparaiso 6-1, 6-0.  Kyrillou lost his opening round match to Kryzatof Wietzka of Toledo 6-4, 6-1.

Hernandez and Kyrillou both played additional consolation draw matches.  Hernandez beat Jack Santilli of Cleveland State 7-5, 6-1.  Kyrillou beat William Everett of Youngstown State 6-3, 6-2.
