The EIU men's and women's tennis programs will head into the spring break weekend on the road. The EIU men will play in Chicago to open the weekend and then play a make-up match with Ball State on Sunday. The Panther women will play in Chicago on Friday and Saturday.
The EIU men open the weekend playing Chicago State on Friday in the Windy City. EIU then travels to Ball State on Sunday to make-up a match that was snowed out to open the spring season. Next Sunday, EIU wraps up spring break hosting Rose-Hulman with the match tentatively set for Darling Courts on the EIU campus.
The EIU men are 8-8 heading into the weekend after wins last weekend against Millikin and North Central College.
Logan Charbonneau and
Freddie O'Brien moved their doubles record to 10-1 on the season including an 8-0 record playing at number three doubles this season.
In singles action, O'Brien is now 8-4 in singles action with all matches played at number one singles. O'Brien now has 23 dual match wins at number one singles in his EIU career.
Mike Jansen is currently 7-4 with all his matches played at number two singles. Charbonneau and
Daniel Hernandez both have 7-5 singles records this spring.
The EIU women are 7-4 on the season having won their last four matches. EIU faces Chicago State on Friday afternoon and then will play a neutral site match against Detroit Mercy on Saturday afternoon in Chicago. The number one doubles pair of
Rachel Papavasilopoulos and
Srishti Slaria have posted a 9-1 record in doubles play this spring.
In singles action, Papavasilopoulos is 9-2 this spring playing at number one singles. Slaria has posted a 7-4 record with all her matches in the number two singles position. Slaria currently has 40 career singles wins in her EIU career and needs two more to move into the EIU career top ten for wins.
