Panther Men and Women Win John Craft Invite

The Panthers take home 14 first place finishes.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois men's & women's track and field teams both placed first out of 15 teams at the John Craft Invite. The men scored 183 and the women scored 196.6 points.

The men were led by Joe Smith in the triple jump with a win and a new personal best of 50-7 ½. With that jump that puts him second in the OVC. The men as a whole had seven first-place finishes.

In the men's 200 Ricky Johnson won with a time of 22.43, in the 1 mile Dustin Hatfield placed first with a time of 4:14.44. In the 3000 Jamie Marcos had a personal best and won with a time of 8:36.02. Jekeel Suber placed first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.19.

In the 4x400 relay, the men's A team placed first while the B team was right behind them to take second. In the 4000 DMR, the A team placed first with a time of 10:29.74.

The women were led by Grace Rowan placing first in the 1 mile run with a time of 4:58.28. With that time that puts her first in the OVC. The women as a whole collected seven first-place finishes as well.

In the 60 meter hurdles, Shanisa Stinson placed first with a time of 8.97. Freshman Akiya Kollore was right behind her in second with a time of 9.30. In the 400 Zakiya Johnson placed first in with a time of 59.50.

Danielle Frank placed first in the 60 meters with a time of 7.70. In the 800 Chloe Irish placed first with a time of 2:24.21. In the 3000 Lindsey Carlson won her very first race with a time of 10:05.32 which puts her second in the OVC.

The women won the 4000 DMR with a time of 12:34.09.

The Panthers are back in action Saturday (Jan. 25) at the Illinois Invite.
