FINAL RESULTS
CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois men's & women's track and field teams had one first-place finish at the Iowa Black and Gold Premier. Grace Rowan had a personal best and moved up to number seven on the EIU All-time list in the mile.
The men were led by Joe Smith in the triple jump as he had the best finish for the men with second place with a jump of 48-6 3/4. Adam Swanson placed fourth in the 800 premier with a time of 1:54.42.
Other top-ten finishers were, Nick Phillips in the weight throw with a throw of 58-4 3/4 to place fourth. In the 400 Tadiwa Mhonde placed sixth with a time of 49.18 and in the 60-meter premier Shandall Thomas placed eighth with a time of 6.87.
In the 3000 Franky Romano placed tenth with a time of 8.46. In the 4x400 the A team for the Panthers placed fourth with a time of 3:15.93 which is .34 seconds off of the EIU All-time list. The B team was right behind them in fifth place with a time of 3:16.53.
The women were led by Grace Rowan in the mile as she won the premier heat with a personal best time of 4:56.26 and moved up to number seven on the EIU All-time list.
Other top-ten finishers were, Shanisa Stinson in the 60 hurdles, as she placed fifth with a time of 8.86 and in the 200 Akiya Kollore, placed ninth with a time of 25.65. In the 400 Taylor Wright placed ninth with a time of 58.62.
In the 800 Chloe Irish placed ninth with a time of 2:19.44 and Jocelyne Mendoza was right behind her in tenth place with a time of 2:19.45. MaKenna Wilson placed seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 53-7 and placed ninth in the shot with a throw of 42-11 1/2.
In the 4x400 relay, the A team placed sixth with a time of 3:55.32and the B team placed 11th with a time of 4:07.50.
The Panthers are back in action Friday (Feb. 7) and Saturday (Feb. 8) at the Notre Dame Meyo Invite in South Bend, Indiana.
