Redbird Fall Invite Results
NORMAL, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis wrapped up its 2021 fall slate over the weekend competing at the Illinois State Redbird Fall Invitational. The Panthers came away with some success on the weekend with wins in both singles and doubles action.
Christos Kyrillou won a pair of singles matches for the Panther men. He opened play with a three-set win on Friday beating Zane Kohrs of Illinois State 2-6, 7-5, 10-3. Following a three set loss to a player from Drake on Saturday, Kyrillou closed the weekend with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Gustavo Schwebel of UIC.
Kyrillou had additional success in doubles play teaming with
Thomas Wallace. The pair won 8-4 over Illinois State on Friday and closed with a 8-5 win on Sunday over UIC. The pair lost its Saturday doubles match to Drake 8-2.
Wallace added a singles win on Friday to his weekend play beating Zacharias Rasmusson of Illinois State in three sets 6-1, 2-6, 10-8.
EIU had three other doubles wins and three other singles wins for the weekend tournament.
Will Ulrich teamed with
Ruslan Pultz on Friday to pick-up an 8-5 doubles win over Saint Louis. Ulrich added a singles win on Sunday 6-4, 6-2 over Jonathan Sadowski from SLU. Due to an injury, Ulrich played with a doubles partner from Illinois State on Sunday with the pair claiming an 8-1 win over Saint Louis.
Leighton Brandon and
Tyler Carlin had a Friday doubles win over Drake 8-1.
On Saturday
Pau Riera and
Max Pilipovic-Kljajic teamed up for an 8-5 doubles win over Saint Louis, 8-5. Each player then won a singles match against a Billikens player. Riera won 6-1, 6-3 over Sadowski. Pilipovic-Kljajic beat Kushal Marri in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
