BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois cross country runners Dustin Hatfield and Lindsey Carlson turned top performances last Friday at the Bradley "Pink" Classic into Ohio Valley Conference weekly awards this week as both were named the OVC Runner of the Week.
 
Hatfield earned his third OVC Runner of the Week honor in as many races after finishing second out of 248 runners at the Bradley "Pink" Classic. He netted his second-straight sub-24:00 8K time by finishing in 23:51.9. He helped the Panthers team (which is ranked 6th in the Midwest Region) place second in the team standings in a field of 31, which included seven regionally-ranked teams.
 
Carlson earned her fourth OVC Runner of the Week honor of the season after finishing sixth out of 286 competitors at the Bradley "Pink" Classic. In her first-ever 6K race, the graduate student smashed the school record by 18 seconds, finishing in a time of 21:03.5 (the fastest 6K in the OVC this season). Carlson helped the Panthers place 13th out of 37 teams in a field that included eight regionally-ranked squads.
 
EIU will return to action on Oct. 30 when the Panthers compete at the OVC Championships in Nashville.  The EIU men will look to defend their OVC Championship from the spring of 2021.
