Men's And Women's Tennis Back In Action After Hiatus

Panthers will play five matches on the road (2 women, 3 men)

Eastern Illinois men's and women's tennis return to action this weekend after a couple week hiatus for both programs.  The women will play two matches while the men will be in action for three.
 
The EIU women will be playing for the first time since Feb. 14.  The Panthers enter at 1-4 on the season and played only one match in the month of February.  
 
Rachel Papavasilopoulos leads the team with a 5-0 record at No. 1 singles while she is 3-0 at No. 1 doubles paired with Christine Gouws.    Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova has posted a 3-1 record at No. 3 singles to rank second on the team in wins at a position in the line-up.
 
EIU travels to Northern Illinois on Friday for a 1 p.m. start.  NIU is 3-4 on the season.   On Saturday, EIU plays at Milwaukee, a team with a 5-2 record.
 
The EIU men's team travels to the Cincinnati area this weekend for three matches.   The Panthers are 2-3 on the season and last played on Feb. 20 with two matches on the same day.  
 
Charles Courteau and Cameron Slabbert are the only two EIU players with multiple wins at the same spot in the line-up this spring .  Courteau is 2-1 at No. 4 singles and leads the team in overall wins with three adding a win at No. 5 singles.  Cameron Slabbert is 2-0 at No. 6 singles.
 
EIU will open play with two matches on Friday.  First at Dayton at 12 p.m. as the Flyers are 5-4 on the year.  That evening, EIU travels to Northern Kentucky to a face a 3-0 Norse squad.   Action wraps up Saturday afternoon at Xavier which is 1-3 on the year.
