The Eastern Illinois men's tennis team heads to Austin Peay this weekend for the Panthers lone match of the week. The winner of the match will pick up their second OVC win of the season and clinch a spot in this year's Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
EIU went 1-1 in OVC play last weekend falling to Belmont on Friday before a 5-2 win over Tennessee State on Saturday.
Christos Kyrillou was named the OVC Men's Tennis Player of the Week after he scored a point at No. 4 singles against Belmont and then won at No. 4 singles against Tennessee State. Playing at No. 2 doubles with
Thomas Wallace, the pair clinched the doubles point in the win over the Tigers.
This season
Charles Courteau,
Karan Srivastava and
Cameron Slabbert are all tied for the team lead with four wins in singles play.
Kyrillou, Srivastava and
Daniel Hernandez all have three wins in doubles play this spring with all picking up wins with different playing partners.
Following the match this weekend at APSU, EIU wraps up the regular season next week with non-conference matches with Millikin and Chicago State.
