Eastern Illinois men and women's swimming loses the first of two meets this weekend after traveling to Southern Illinois Friday afternoon. The men's final was 47-213 and the women's final was 51.5-210.5. Both Panther squads now drop to 1-5 on the season.
The night started with a third place finish from the men's 200 medley relay with
Forrest Baumgartner,
Collin Feliciano,
Jacob Nichols, and
Dismas Dillon finishing with a time of 1:36.82.
Emma Ballantyne collected a third place finish in the women's 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:19.75 to start the evening in event three.
Conner Colston followed up with another third place finish in the men's 200 freestyle with a time of 1:45.20.
Izzy Glasgow (28.54) and
Alex Adams (26.85) both recorded third place finishes for the Panthers in the 50 backstroke.
In event nine,
Ashley Glesing got on the board with a second place finish in the women's 50 breaststoke with a time of 31.67.
Camryn Lewis also collected a third place finish in the women's 50 freestyle (24.68). Dillon also earned a third place finish in the 50 freestyle for the men's team with a time of 21.41.
Colston earned another top-three finish in the men's 500 freestyle with a second place time of 4:53.51.
Kaylan Ottosen (27.35) received a third place finish in the women's 50 butterfly. EIU's night ended with a second place finish in the men's 200 yard freestyle relay led by
Payton Buse, Baumgartner, Colston, and Dillon (1:27.21)
The Panthers will end their regular season with a home meet against Valparaiso on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 11:30 a.m. where EIU will send off their seniors on Senior Day. Facebook Live will be available to stream.
