Eastern Illinois men's swimming head coach Scott Teeters has bolstered his roster for the 2026-27 season with the addition of 13 new swimmers.

The Panthers incoming class is a mixture of four-year transfers and high school swimmers.  The class includes Poyraz San Askin, Walker Bridenstine, Jameson Cooke, Landon Dehn, Charlie Edwards, Jack Hannon, Sean Kennedy, Jaedon Lynch, Andre Myers, Elijah Nevins, Pat O'Brien, Joaquin Ruales and Jonathan Ting.

The EIU swim team opens its 2026-27 season on October 3 at the Butler Invite before hosting Olivet Nazarene at the Padovan Pool on October 9.

Poyraz San Askin (Antalya, Turkey) competed for two years at Youngstown State University in Ohio… competed in nine events during the 2025-26 season including swimming in three individual events at the Horizon League Championships… posted a pair of first place finishes during the season in the 1650 freestyle at the YSU Invitational and Akron Zips Classic… had a total of 12 Top 5 event finishes… as a freshman in 2024-25 competed in ten meets earning All-Horizon League honors with a sixth place finish at the Horizon League Championships in the 1650 free… posted three first place finishes during the year, twice in the 1000 free and once in the 1650 free… had a total of 13 Top 5 event finishes during the year… set the pool record at Niagara University in the 1000 free as a freshman… swam for coach Turgay Demircioglu in native Turkey attending Imza Koleji Antalya for high school… collected over 120 medals during prep swimming career with three plaque awards as highest scorer… was a five time representative for the Turkish National Team…

Walker Bridenstine (Tulsa, Okla.) swam two seasons at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas… competed in nine meets as a sophomore during the 2025-26 season… posted three Top 5 event finishes during the season with primary events backstroke and freestyle… swam in 13 meets during freshman season of 2024-25… posted one Top 5 event finish during the season in the 200 IM… at the prep level swam for coach Diego Henao at Jenks High School while swimming club for Jenks Trojan Swim Club… as a senior placed second at the Oklahoma Class 6A State Championships in the 100 backstroke and 200 IM helping lead team to state championship… helped team win three total state championships… was twice named Academic All-State…

Jameson Cooke (Germantown, Ohio) swam two seasons at Youngstown State University in Ohio… competed in nine meets during the 2025-26 season wrapping up the year swimming three events at the Horizon League Championships… had six Top 5 event finishes during the season including a win in the 400 IM at the YSU Invitational… competed in eight meets during the freshman season with three events swam at the Horizon League Championships… posted three Top 5 event finishes during the season… at the prep level swam for coach Andrew Sellars at Germantown Valley View High School… as a senior placed third in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 butterfly at the Ohio Division II State Championships…

Landon Dehn (Wylie, Texas) swam two seasons at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas… as a sophomore competed in 12 meets posting six top five event finishes over the course of the season… swam a season best 50 free time at the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships… as a freshman swam in 13 meets during the year with a top five finish at the OBU vs Montevallo dual… competed in three events at the NSISC Championships helping Ouachita Baptist win the conference title… as a prep athlete swam at Sachse High School for coach Dan Hafner and at the club level for COR Swimming… as a senior reached the Texas UIL Region 3-6A Championship… set the GISD record in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events in 2024…

Charlie Edwards (Crystal Lake, Ill.) attended Crystal Lake South High School but earned four varsity letters swimming with the Cary-Grove HS Co-op for coach Sctott Lattyak… was twice named the Fox Valley Conference MVP for swimming… Academic All-Conference… helped lead the team to three conference championships… as a senior placed third at the Lincolnshire Sectional in the 500 Free event… swam at the club level for Barrington Swim Club…

Jack Hannon (LaGrange, Ill.) swam at Lyons Township High School reaching the IHSA State Championships in the 100 free as a senior… added All-State honors at the state meet helping 400 free relay team win a bronze medal while the 400 relay team placed fifth in the state… also competed at the state meet as a member of the 200 medley relay… was an All-State selection as a junior swimming on both the 200 free and 400 free relay teams at the IHSA State Championship, the 400 relay team finishing in fifth place while the 200 relay team was seventh… reached the IHSA State Championship as a sophomore in the 50 free and on the 200 relay team…

Sean Kennedy (Toronto, Ontario – Canada) attended St. John Henry Newman Catholic School… competed at the prep level for Torch Swim Club for coach Dr. Shauna Devine… competed at the Euro Meet in Luxembourg placing 17th in the Junior Division… captured five bronze medals at the 2024 Border City Invite setting pool 400 freestyle record in prelims… helped Torch Swim Club post a sixth place national finish at the 2024 Speedo Canadian Championships… earned five medals at the 2023 Summer Ontario Youth Championships and was runner-up for High Point Male Athlete… team captain…

Jaedon Lynch (London, England) competed during the 2025 season at Quincy University in Illinois… swam in nine meets during the season with eight top five event finishes… began college career swimming two seasons at Union Commonwealth University in Kentucky… finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships as a sophomore… posted three first place finishes during the season… was a multiple time All-Conference performer over both seasons at Union Commonwealth… as a freshman finished fourth at the conference championship in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events… had three first place finishes during the season… competed for the Jamaican National Team at the CARIFTA Championships and at the World Aquatics Junior Championships… helped set the Jamaica National 4x50 free mixed relay record… attended Wilmington Grammar for secondary school in England…

Andre Myers (Edwardsville, Ill.) competed at Edwardsville High School swimming for coach Christian Rhoten… competed at the club level for Metro East Titans… earned four varsity letters in swimming… set the school record in the 200 free relay… as a senior reached the IHSA State Championships in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly… was the Edwardsville Sectional Champion in both events… reached the IHSA State Championships in three events as a junior swimming the 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and leadoff leg of the 400 free relay… older brother Eddie Myers swims at Eastern Illinois…

Elijah Nevins (East Lansing, Mich.) competed for two seasons in swim at Canisius University in New York… as a sophomore competed in nine meets including swimming the 100 back, 200 free and 500 free events at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships… posted 11 top five event finishes during the season including a win in the 200 back in the Rochester Tri featuring Canisius and Siena… as a freshman was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year… competed in seven meets with six top five event finishes during the season… posted a first place finish in the 500 freestyle in the dual meet with LeMoyne… earned MAAC All-Academic in 2025-26… as a prep athlete swam at Lansing Catholic High School for coach Nate Burchfield… competed in the Michigan Boys Division 2 State Championship as a senior in the 100 back and 100 butterfly events…

Pat O'Brien (Des Plaines, Ill.) swam freshman season (2025-26) at Quincy University in Illinois… appeared in ten meets during the season including swimming in three individual events at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships… during the season posted one Top 5 event finish placing fifth in the 100 breaststroke in the dual meet with Grinnell… swam at Maine West High School competing in the IHSA Niles North Sectional in the 100 free and 500 free events… swam at the club level for Glenbrook Swim Club…

Joaquin Ruales (Quito, Ecuador) competed for Delfines Swim Club and the Ecuador National Swim Team in native country of Ecuador… attended Liceo Compoverde for high school… earned a bronze medal in the 1500 freestyle at the PanAm Aquatics Age Group Championships… placed fifth at the Eastern Senior Zones… competed for Ecuador at the Copa Del Pacifico Championships… competed at the Ecuador National Championships representing Club Deportivo Los Delfines…

Jonathan Ting (Coppell, Texas) swam at Coppell High School in the Dallas Metro area in Texas… as a senior was a member of the 200 free and 200 medley relay teams at the competed in the Texas UIL 6A State Championships… helped 200 free relay team win gold UIL Region 2-6A Championship while 200 medley relay team earned bronze… as an individual placed fourth in the 100 fly at the Regional… was the silver medalist in both the 100 back and 100 fly at the UIL District 5-6A Championships… swam at the club level for Dallas Mustangs…
