Mike Moncel has released the Panthers schedule for the 2022 spring season as the spring semester opens up on the EIU campus next week. Both programs are scheduled to compete in five tournaments during the spring with both culminating at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in April.
Both programs will open play in Florida in March as they will both play at the Butler Benbow Invite and the Sacred Heart Spring Invite. The Butler Benbow Invite will take place in Jacksonville, Fla., on March 7-8 at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club. The Sacred Heart Spring Invite will take place in Daytona Beach, Fla., on March 11-12 at the LPGA International.
The EIU women will then play three straight weeks in April beginning on April 3-4 at the Indiana State Spring Invite at the Country Club of Terre Haute. The Panthers then play April 8-9 at the Illinois State Redbird Spring Invite at Weibring Golf Club. This year's OVC Championship will be April 17-19 at the RTJ Golf Trail – The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
The EIU men will play three straight weeks in April beginning on April 10-11 at Northern Kentucky's The Jewell played at Lassing Pointe Golf Club. The Panthers follow with action at the Wright State Invitational on April 17-18 at Heatherwoode Golf Club. This year's OVC Championship will be April 23-27 at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Preston Smith had the top men's scoring average during EIU's four fall tournament events with a 76.83 average.
Keegan Gowin turned in the best round of the fall for the Panthers with a 71 at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invite.
Monique Peterson had the top women's scoring average during EIU's four fall tournament events with a 82.73 average. Peterson also had the best round of the fall for the Panthers at the Butler Fall Invite.
