BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Christos Kyrillou from Eastern Illinois men's tennis has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week.
 
Kyrillou was instrumental in the Panthers picking up their first win of the season this past weekend during a 4-3 decision over Bellarmine.
 
Playing at No. 1 singles, Kyrillou won the deciding match of the contest in a third set tie-break as he won 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7). 
 
It was the third singles win of the season for Kyrillou and the second time this spring that he has moved up to play at No. 1 singles. 
 
Earlier in the match Kyrillou teamed with Thomas Wallace at No. 1 doubles as the tandem won the deciding doubles point with a 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 1 singles.
 
This is the second time in his EIU career that Kyrillou has been named the OVC Tennis Player of the Week.
 
EIU returns to action this weekend with matches at Xavier and Dayton.
