Eastern Illinois Men's Tennis Schedule
Friday – March 25 at Butler … 2 pm
Sunday – March 27 vs. Rose-Hulman … 2 pm
Eastern Illinois men's tennis will play two non-conference matches this weekend as the Panthers travel to Butler on Friday before hosting Rose-Hulman on Sunday. The Butler match will take place at 2 p.m. (Central) while the Rose-Hulman match will start at 2 p.m. as well. If needed due to weather, the match will be moved indoors to the Lantz Fieldhouse.
EIU enters the weekend at 2-15 after splitting a pair of matches last weekend. EIU beat Saint Francis 7-0 before losing at No. 23 Notre Dame on Sunday evening. Butler enters the weekend at 7-7. Rose-Hulman is 4-6 entering the weekend.
In weekend action
Tyler Carlin played well in both of his weekend matches for the Panthers. On Saturday Carlin picked up his first singles win of the season moving up to No. 4 singles and winning in two sets. On Sunday he moved back to the No. 5 spot in the order and had his match at Notre Dame left unfinished. Carlin played at No. 3 doubles in both matches with
Max Pilipovic-Kljajic with the pair posting a 1-1 record.
Thomas Wallace continues to lead the EIU team with six singles wins this season while
Charles Courteau is second on the team with five wins in singles play.
In doubles play Wallace and
Christos Kyrillou improved to 5-1 in No. 1 doubles play for the weekend suffering their first loss of the season at No. 1 doubles falling 6-2 at Notre Dame. Carlin and Pilipovic-Kljajic rank second on the team this spring with three wins in doubles play.
Following this weekend EIU will play four straight Ohio Valley Conference matches opening league play next weekend at Tennessee Tech. The final match of the season will be April 21 against Olivet Nazarene for senior day at Darling Courts before traveling to the OVC Championships in Evansville.
