Weekend Schedule
Friday – April 15 vs. Tennessee State at 10 am
Saturday – April 16 vs. Belmont at 10 am
Eastern Illinois men's tennis will host Tennessee State and Belmont this weekend as the Panthers continue Ohio Valley Conference play. The matches are scheduled to be played on-campus outdoors at the Rex Darling Tennis Courts which will mark the first home outdoor events this season for the men's team.
EIU played one road OVC match last weekend as the Panthers are now 3-16 overall, 0-2 in the OVC.
On Saturday,
Pau Riera picked up a win for the Panthers playing at No. 6 singles. It was the second win in the last three matches for Riera.
This weekend EIU will recognize three members of their senior class prior to the matches –
Christos Kyrillou,
Leighton Brandon and
Ruslan Pultz.
Kyrillou has played this spring at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles compiling five wins between the two spots. He has played primarily at No. 1 doubles with
Thomas Wallace with the pair posting a 7-3 record and twice this spring being named the OVC Men's Doubles Team of the Week.
Brandton has played a majority of the spring in the Panthers No. 1 singles position. He has posted two wins in singles play.
Pultz has appered in one match this spring playing in doubles action against IUPUI.
Tennessee State enters the weekend with a 3-18 record, 0-2 in the OVC. Belmont enters the weekend at 11-4 overall, 2-0 in the OVC.
Following this weekend's matches EIU will return to action at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in Evansville on April 28-30
