SIOUX FALLS, N.d. - The Summit League has named
Dismas Dillon and
Corinne Staneart as their TicketSmarter Summit League Men's and Women's Peak Swimmers of the Week after their performances at the Butler Double Dual this past Sunday.
Staneart was able to land one of the two first places finishes for the Panthers in Indianapolis, Ind. on Sunday when she finished first in the 200 yard breaststroke with a finals time of 2:25.11. She was the lone Panther to earn an individual first place finish.
In the first event of the season, Staneart was also one of four Panther swimmers in the 200 yard medley relay with a seventh place finish (1:51.33). Her team also finished in 10th in the 400 yard free relay (3:48.78).
Dismas Dillon was able to claim swimmer of the week after posting a second place finish in the men's 50 yard freestyle with a finals time 21:39. Dillon also was part of the fifth place team in the men's 400 yard free relay that finished with a time of 3:13.76.
This marked the first time that both Dillon and Staneart have won the Summit League's Peak Swimmer of the Week. It also marks the first time since since Nov. 2, 2021 that an EIU swimmer has won the award (
Kennedy Darensbourg and
Spencer Wilson).
The Panther swim teams will be back in action next weekend, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. when they travel to Ball State in Muncie, Ind. for their first head-to-head matchup of the season.
