EIU Swim Begins New Year Against Evansville

EIU men’s and women’s swimming will open the 2026 calendar against Evansville

Location: Padovan Pool (Charleston, Ill.) 



Men's Swim: 

EIU is back in action after a month-long break after facing UIndy on Senior Day. There were multiple podium finishes, including Zachary Clark winning gold in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle with a winning time of 1:44.45. Clark broke the school record in the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 44.31. Alexander Sadowski placed first in the Men's 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 49.72, which ranks 4th all-time in program history.  



Women's Swim:  

Genevieve Biberdorf shined bright on her senior day, earning gold in the Women's 200 Yard Breaststroke with a final time of 2:20.78, ranking second all-time in EIU history. Biberdorf rounded out her impressive day with a second-place finish in the Women's 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:14.12. Jenna Patridge and Anna Mueller each secured second place in their respective competitions. Patridge earned second in the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 59.73, while Mueller competed in the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle with a finishing time of 5:32.48.  



About Evansville:  

The Purple Aces are led by head coach Toby Wilcox. Wilcox returns home after spending 13 years at Birmingham Southern College, where he started the swimming and diving program. Coach Wilcox began his coaching career at Evansville, serving as an assistant coach before being named head coach. The Purple Aces and EIU met in November at the Southern Illinois A3 Invite, in which Evansville placed 4th in the meet. Their last time out, Evansville lost a home dual meet to UIC.  



EIU will compete on Saturday, January 17th, at 1:00 PM. Results will be available after the conclusion of the meet.
