After narrow defeats against Evansville last weekend, EIU will continue their five-meet homestand, hosting two weekend showdowns. On Friday, EIU will welcome UIC to campus for a men's and women's dual meet. Then, the Panthers will turn the page to face a Summit League opponent in Southern Indiana.
Men's Swimming:
EIU men's swimming lost a heartbreaker against the Purple Aces in a meet that was decided in the final event. EIU will look to regroup against UIC and Southern Indiana. Last time out, Nolan Wallace, Alexander Sadowski, Luke Helm, and Simonas Rimskis won the Men's 400 Yard Medley Relay with a final time of 3:26.55. Eddie Myers followed the relay team with a first-place finish in the Men's 1000 Yard Freestyle with a winning time of 9:57.30. Nolan Wallace faced no trouble winning the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 57.39 seconds, ranking 8th all-time in EIU history. Carson Hughes rounded out the first-place finishes by winning the 50 Yard Freestyle by a margin of 0.01 seconds.
Women's Swimming:
Remingtyn Bokos had her best meet of the season by winning the Women's 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:11.17. Bokos also won the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:27.70. Buswell joined Bokos in the winning circle by earning gold in the Women's 200 Yard Butterfly with a winning time of 2:14.90. Jenna Patridge and Genevieve Biberdorf each took home first place in their respective events. Patridge won the Women's 200 Yard Backstroke by a margin of 0.76 seconds. Biberdorf dominated the Women's 200 Yard Breaststroke with a winning time of 2:28.24.
About UIC:
The Flames are coached by Ashley Dell, who is in her fourth season as head coach. She has led UIC to a combined 39 top eight finishes, 14 finishes in the top three, and 17 records broken. Dell also helped coach the first three Missouri Valley Conference champions. UIC is balanced with eight freshmen and four seniors on both the women's and men's sides. UIC defeated the EIU men's swimming team 168-90 last season and the women's 186-70.
About USI:
Southern Indiana defeated EIU women's swimming 196-96 last season. Eastern Illinois men's swimming won the USI dual meet 164.5-129.5 last year. The Screaming Eagles are led by head coach Cameron Kainer, who is in his 4th season with USI. Coach Kainer is led by many upperclassmen on both squads, with 9 seniors.
