Back-To-Back Meets On Deck For Eastern Illinois Swimming

Panthers will face SIU before heading to Illinois State for a women’s-only dual meet.

Eastern Illinois vs. Illinois State (Women's-Only Meet) 

Date & Time: Saturday, January 31st | 2:00 PM 

Location: Normal, Ill. | Horton Pool 



Eastern Illinois will compete in their final home meet of the 2025-2026 season on Friday, January 30th at 1:00 p.m. The Panther will welcome the Salukis of Southern Illinois for a men's and women's dual meet. Then, EIU will turn the page and hit the road to Illinois State for a women's-only meet showdown.  



Men's Swimming: 

Last time out, EIU recorded multiple first-place finishes, including a ranking in the EIU Top Ten Finishes. Alexander Sadowski displayed an impressive showing, taking home a gold medal in the Men's 100 Yard Backstroke with a final time of 49.56, which ranks 3rd all-time in Eastern Illinois history. Sadowski didn't stop there as he also won the Men's 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:50.49. Sadowski's 200 Yard Backstroke time ranks 4th all-time in program history.  Nolan Wallace joined the winners' circle, earning a first-place finish in the Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 57.52, ranking 9th fastest in the EIU record book.   



Women's Swimming: 

Anna Mueller was a bright spot against UIC, finishing second in the Women's 1000 Yard Freestyle with a finals time of 11:03.87. Mueller secured another second finish in the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:25.01. Genevieve Biberdorf also had a positive meet, earning a silver medal in the Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke with a finals time of 1:09.45. Jenna Patridge also earned a silver medal in the Women's 200 Yard Backstroke with a finals time of 2:10.67. Sophia Buswell rounded out the Panthers meet with a top three finish in the Women's 100 Butterfly with a time of 59.99.  



About Southern Illinois: 

The Salukis are coached by Geoff Hanson, who is in his 6th season in charge. In the first five seasons at the helm, coach Hanson had a combined 52-23 dual-meet record. Both of these programs met in November for the A3 Performance Invite. Southern Illinois won the A3 for both men's and women's swimming. Last time out, SIU faced Vanderbilt in a dual meet, which the Salukis won.  



About Illinois State:  

Illinois State is led by Head Coach Riley Hilbrandt, who is in her 2nd season at the helm. In her first season in charge, Hilbrandt led the Redbirds to seven All-MVC selections, four school records, and five medalists at the 2025 MVC title meet. Last time out, the Redbirds fell to Northern Iowa in a dual meet 202-151.  



The dual meet against Southern Illinois will be livestreamed on Facebook Live using the link posted above. The dual meet against Illinois State is a women's-only meet. The results will be available following the conclusion of the meet.
