NEW ORLEANS – Eastern Illinois men's and women's cross country programs both earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors released this week.
The EIU men's program had a team GPA of 3.59 which ranked as the 19th best team GPA among the 216 NCAA men's program recognized. Vanderbilt had the highest men's team GPA at 3.772 while Northern Arizona was recognized as the men's academic team of the year.
The Panther women posted a 3.64 team GPA and ranked in the top 60 among the 249 NCAA women's teams that had a 3.0 or higher team GPA. Georgia State had the highest team GPA at 3.99 while North Carolina State was recognized as the women's academic team of the year.
Eastern Illinois swept this year's Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships with the men winning their third straight title while the women won their third-ever OVC crown.
EIU was one of five Ohio Valley Conference teams to have both its men's and women's program achieve USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors. The other schools were SIUE, Southeast Missouri, Southern Indiana and Morehead State.
