EIU Swimming Hosts the Salukis

EIU Swim Closes Out Regular Season At Butler Invite

Both teams finish in 5th place

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Eastern Illinois swimming capped off their 2022-23 regular season at the Butler Invitational with fifth place finishes. The men's team finish with a total of 675 points while the women's team claimed a total of 518.

In the third event of the meet, Kennedy Darensbourg finished in seventh place in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 18:19.94. It marked the longest distance any EIU swimmer has swam this season. Spencer Wilson also came in seventh on the men's side (16:59.86).

Conner Colston finished in 10th place in the men's 200 free with a final time of 1:46.17. Corinne Staneart would also get EIU on the board with a ninth place time of 1:07.88 in the women's 100 yard breaststroke.

The highest ranking Panther in the 50 yard freestyle was Camryn with a time of 24.54. She also collected a 13th place later on during the meet in the 100 freestyle (54.50).

Staneart would earn a top three finish in the 200 yard breaststroke (third place) with a top time of 2:23.69. She posted the highest ranking of any Panther throughout the day. Andrew Herman would also take home a seventh place finish on the men's side (2:13.46).

In the long distance 500 yard free, Wilson would return to claim a fifth place with a time of 4:50.52 while Darensbourg finished in 10th for the women's team (5:26.33).

Continuing her impression meet, Staneart would add a seventh place finish in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:11.73. Herman would also come in 10th place for the men's team (1:59.50).

Both 200 yard freestyle relay teams would come in eighth place to close out the Butler Invitational. The men's team of Dismas Dillon, Colston, Jacob Wienantz, and Oliver Ehmann would earn a time of 1:28.06. The women's team of Autumn Grinter, Izzy Glasgow, Lewis and Kaylan Ottosen finished with a time of 1:41.44.

EIU will have a couple weeks off before traveling to Minneapolis, Minn. for the Summit League Championships. The meet will start on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and continue on til Saturday, Feb. 25.
