CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois women's swimming team participated in the SIU A3 Performance Invitational this weekend, which wrapped up on Saturday afternoon. Other teams that participated in the event included Southern Illinois, Southern Indiana, Bellarmine, Omaha, Indiana State and Valparaiso.
On day one,
Camryn Lewis picked up a third-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.59, which is the third fastest time in program history. Lewis also holds the school record time of 22.99 in the event.
Also on day one, the team of
Autumn Grinter,
Camryn Lewis,
Izzy Glasgow, and
Kaylan Ottosen finished third in the 200 free relay (1:35.53), while
Corinne Staneart took first place in the B-Final of the 200 IM with a time a 2:07.87, which is the second fastest in the school record books.
On day two,
Corinne Staneart picked up a third-place finish in the B-Final of the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.46, which tiesÂ
Olivia Viele for the fourth fastest time in school history.
On the final day of competition,
Camryn Lewis finished second in the B-Final of 100 free with a time of 52.76, which is fifth best all-time for an EIU women's swimmer.
Through 40 events, the Panthers compiled a score of 248.5, which placed them sixth place out of eight at the meet.
Eastern will have the next two weekends off but will return to action following Thanksgiving at the Akron Zippy Invite. The event is scheduled to commence Thursday, November 30th and close out on Saturday, December 2nd.Â
