MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Eastern Illinois men and women's swimming wrapped up day two of the Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. Thursday evening as multiple Panthers set new school records in their events.
Corinne Staneart was the leading Panther during the meet as she set the new Eastern Illinois record in the women's 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:04.34. She would finish fourth in the finals. She broke the record previously set in 2019 (Lauren Oostman, 2:09.15).
Camryn Lewis broke her own record in the women's 50 yard freestyle after posting a fifth place time of 22.99. Her previous best time was set last season with a time of 23.14. She also posted a time of 23.10 in the preliminaries earlier on Thursday.
On the men's side,
Dismas Dillon emerged into the men's 50 freestyle A final with a personal best time of 20.31. Dillon would break the EIU record that was set in 2020 by Scott House (20.40) and take down his previous personal best of 20.60. He would finish seventh in the A final in Minneapolis with a time of 20.47.
In the final event of the evening, the women's 200 free relay team of
Autumn Grinter, Lewis,
Kaylan Ottosen and
Izzy Glasgow set the new Eastern Illinois record with a time of 1:34.87. The previous record was set in 2009 with a time of 1:35.88.
The Panthers will be back in action for day three of the Summit League Championships tomorrow morning on Friday, Feb. 24 starting at 10 a.m. Video and Livestats can be found on eiupanthers.com.
